Can I make games for kids?

Although we'd love to allow you, our valued authors, to publish games for children under the age of 12, an Act of Congress prevents us from allowing it.

The Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requires that all products manufactured for children under the age of 12 be tested by an independent third party. This testing costs several thousand dollars per product, and is therefore not something we can realistically provide.

While we think that it's important to protect children from choking hazards, toxins, and malfeasance, this law pretty much ensures that small publishers like yourself will never be able to create products for children under 12. If you think this law should be amended to not discriminate against small businesses, please write your congressman.

We're sorry if this has dashed your hopes, or ruined your plans to publish your game with us. We hope that someday we can either find a way to comply with the law, or have the law amended so we can help you publish your game.
