Why is my shipping address being rejected?

If you are receiving an error message after entering your shipping address and clicking on "Save Address," there's likely an issue with the way the address was entered.

For example, if you are receiving an error looking up sales tax, it's likely that you've entered information in the State/Province or Postal/ZIP Code field that should not be there.

If you receive an error message that says the system is unable to validate the address, there could be several reasons:

1.  The street address may contain characters other than numbers and letters, such as #.  Try removing any characters that aren't numbers or letters.

2.  The address may not be formatted correctly.  Carriers generally require addresses to be in a particular format.  Even if you've lived at an address for many years and have entered your address this way many times, it's possible that it does not comply with the current required format for USPS and UPS.

3.  The city may be incorrect.  If the address is actually in a nearby city with the same zip code, the system will not recognize the address.  (For example, if you enter the city as "New York" but the address is actually in Queens, it may be rejected as invalid.  We see this commonly for areas with a lot of boroughs or suburbs.)

4.  The street number may be incorrect.  Check carefully for any transposed numbers, extra digits, or typos.

A good way to verify the format of a US address is by using the "Look Up the Zip Code" tool at https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm.  There, click on "Find by Address.

This system will indicate whether the address is recognized by USPS:

If the address has some incorrect information or formatting, the system will offer a correction:

Canada Post offers a similar option at https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/tools/find-a-postal-code.page

For other countries, your best bet may be to search the address in a browser to compare the format you have to the one listed in the results.

There are few other things that can cause issues with an address or the delivery process:

1.  Entering an address that is not using Roman letters and Arabic numerals:  Please note that the address must be entered with Roman letters and Arabic numerals for us to be able to ship your order.

2.  Not entering the full recipient name in the "Name" field:  This is especially important for international orders, where Customs will need this information.

3.  Not including the apartment or unit number/letter in Address Line 2:  Most carriers will not deliver a package to a multi-unit building without specific unit information.

4.  Not including a "c/o" with the name of a resident in the "Company" field, if the recipient does not live permanently at the shipping address:  More and more frequently, carriers are refusing to deliver packages sent to someone who is not a resident at the shipping address if there is no resident listed as well.  For example, if Joe Smith does not live at the address, but John Jones does, this information should be entered as:

5.  Missing tax information:  Some countries, such as Mexico, may require a tax ID number to be entered.  This field will appear when the country has been selected.  The package cannot be delivered without this information.

Please review the information above first, and verify that the correct address information has been entered into the correct fields.  If you are still experiencing issues with entering your address, please contact customer support at info@thegamecrafter.com with the address you are attempting to enter and information about any error messages you are receiving.
